Message from the Principal:

I am very proud to be the Principal of The Cornerstone Academy.  Having spent over half my life at the school, I have seen many changes and feel delighted to have been part of the success story that is The Cornerstone Academy.

I hope it is evident that I have always been committed to the education of students.  I am passionate about the life chances of students in our care and always approach school improvement with the students at the centre of our intentions.  It is my ambition for TCA to be the first choice school for all of the Hamworthy community and beyond.

First choice because we cater for all abilities at the school, from our very well established and thriving ‘Grammar Stream’ to the best SEND provision in the local area.

First choice for achieving the best grades possible and making outstanding progress from Year 7 through to Year 11.  

First choice because of our excellent personal development programme that celebrates the individual and develops ‘education with character’. 

First choice with classrooms, facilities and surroundings that inspire and are second to none. 

First choice for high standards of behaviour, manners and hard work, whilst maintaining our warm and caring environment.

I have the belief that anything is possible if we want it to happen, but this takes enthusiasm and determination to see this to fruition.  The strength in our academy comes from our truly dedicated staff who respect the important partnership forged with parents and students.

As the school continues to grow, we are finding that we can offer more to students due to the economies of scale.  I am always encouraged by students taking responsibility and have full confidence in their ability to act with maturity, honesty, and astuteness.

As a community we have shown creativity in reducing our impact on the environment, with all food waste being used to generate electricity, no single use plastics in the canteen and all lighting being the most energy efficient.

We have a very active Parent Teacher Association; Supporters of The Cornerstone Academy (SOTCA) and are keen to involve parents in school life.
