As a school at the heart of its community, The Cornerstone Academy has a determination to bring out the best in everyone. Catering for pupils aged 11 to 16, the academy provides an inclusive, welcoming and exciting learning environment for students of all faiths, backgrounds and abilities.
2026 results were well above national figures for basics with 74% of students leaving the academy with a grade 4+ in GCSE in English and Maths and 54% of students leaving with a grade 5+.
The Academy building expansion was completed in 2021, with the addition of 11 new classrooms. This is due to its ongoing success and growing reputation as well as Ofsted judging the Academy as good in 2022. The school is below average in size and we have ensured that this remains a key feature of the school. Funding has been prioritised to ensure that facilities have been enhanced and equal to any larger school. There has been an introduction of a Gym, improved seating areas, new 3G and tennis courts, snack shack and a climbing wall to arrive in October 2026.
The school has also ensured that students still have a wide variety of options available at GCSE, with some classes running with small number to ensure specialisms are catered for. The academy has also ensured its club offer matches that of any larger school, with a wide variety of interests being catered for.
The school remains ambitious for everyone, regardless of background and endeavours to set high academic standards. The academy operates a House system that runs alongside our Education with Character program and builds a sense of belonging.
